The Cisco PA-A3-OC3MM is a single-port ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) port adapter designed to provide a direct connection between supported routers or switch platforms and external networks. 

Port Adapter Overview:

• • The PA-A3-OC3MM interface serves as an independent OC-3c/STM-1 multimode port.
  • It supports multimode, short-reach optical connections.
  • This port adapter is compatible with Cisco 7200 Series routers using the FlexWAN module for the Cisco Catalyst 6000 family of switches.
  • The PA-A3-OC3MM is designed with a high-performance, dual Segmentation and Reassembly (SAR) architecture with local buffer memory.

ATM Features:

• • The PA-A3-OC3MM supports advanced ATM hardware features, including:
    • Per-virtual circuit (VC) and per-virtual path (VP) traffic shaping.
    • Support for most ATM service classes such as non-real-time Variable Bit Rate (nrt-VBR), Available Bit Rate (ABR), and Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR).
    • Support for up to 4096 ATM VCs.

Installation Options:

• • The PA-A3-OC3MM can be directly installed in the port adapter slots of Cisco 7000VXR series routers and the Cisco 7301 router.
  • Alternatively, you can install the PA-A3-OC3MM into a Port Adapter Jacket Card (product ID: C7200-JC-PA) inserted in the I/O controller slot of a Cisco 7200VXR router equipped with an NPE-G1 or NPE-G2 processor for additional bandwidth.
